Southeastern’s new timetable will mean the Medway Valley Line no longer stops at Tonbridge, terminating and starting at Paddock Wood instead.

After several days’ discussion, it is welcome that Southeastern will commit to two services travelling to Tonbridge. But this does not disguise the fact that as 98% of Southeastern services are restored, most of the Medway Valley Line falls in the 2% that have not been.

This line should provide a direct link to Maidstone, Aylesford and Medway, meaning another public transport option and reducing the need to drive and add cars to Tonbridge’s roads.

I’ve launched a petition to ask Southeastern to reconsider their decision to stop serving Tonbridge, and the excellent connections which our station is so lucky to have. Please sign it here and encourage your friends and neighbours to do the same

We need Tonbridge to continue to benefit from its fantastic rail options, including on the Medway Valley Line.
