Open Call for Young Artists
An opportunity for young people aged 14-21 to create new work and exhibit alongside Mahlia Amatina.
This is a call out for young artists aged 14-21 who would like to work with Mahlia in order to create a new artwork to be exhibited as part of her exhibition at Salisbury Arts Centre opening 25 May 2021.
We seek to engage up to ten young artists who wish to react to and expand on Mahlia’s previous project Around The World in 80 Washing Lines - “A social art project pegging us together, around the world, irrespective of who, what or where we are”.
We want to hear from those who are interested in ‘pegging onto’ this project their points of view and ideas, and who, in these new uncertain times of Covid, would wish to utilise the familiar in order to express the hidden and the unsaid.
Young people will work with Mahlia through a series of online workshops in order to create a new artwork to be exhibited as part of her exhibition. Participation is completely FREE and can go ahead during lockdown by the power of Zoom. We are looking for young artists working across all creative disciplines (paint, photography, video, text, spoken word, music, drawing etc) to gather interviews and conversations from within their close ties in order to create this work.
All you will need is your passion for the world around you and to share your collected stories with others.
