LSE Centre for the Study of Human Rights Public Lecture | 15 March 2016 * Thank you for your interest in attending the LSE Centre for the Study of Human Rights Public Lecture: Only Half the Story: Legal Protection of Separated Migrant and Refugee Young People. The lecture will be delivered by Dr Kathryn Cronin (Garden Court Chambers) and Baljeet Sandhu (Migrant and Refugee Children's Legal Unit - MiCLU) on Tuesday, 15 March 2016 from 6:30pm.The talk will deal with some of the hugely topical issues facing separated asylum seeking children (i.e. children travelling or arriving in the UK alone) - their journeys into and through Europe; the trafficking and exploitation of such children in debt bondage situations; the positive protection obligations on governments and their failures to find the 'durable solutions' required for such children. The speakers will also present the findings of their recent report for the Law Centres Network, based on a review of the processing and decision-making in the cases of separated children represented by law centres across the UK, including a look at the key findings on lawyer's practice, the ethical issues raised in their representation of these children and the children's experiences of immigration and care procedures following their arrival to the UK. One young person's advice for service providers and decision-makers to 'put yourselves in our shoes' - was adopted as the title for their joint report. We would like to make the lecture as relevant as possible to your interests and concerns, and therefore invite you to collaborate in designing the evening with us, by contributing questions in advance to us below using the box below: * If you would like to receive news about free training on migrant children's rights and relevant legal updates from MiCLU and the monthly newsletter from the Centre for the Study of Human Rights, please provide your contact details here: Name Organisation Email Address Thank you for taking the time to contribute a question!
