Introduction

The International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) is delighted to announce our latest International Mass Rescue Conference (G5), to be held on 17-19 October 2021 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

This is the fifth of the IMRF's highly acclaimed international conferences on maritime mass rescue operations (MROs), known as the 'Gothenburg series'. The conferences are hosted by the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS)

New for 2021 will be sessions on Safeguarding the Mental Health of SAR Responders and on Conducting Safe SAR operations During a Pandemic.

This theme for the conference is 'Sharing Experience in Challenging Times'.

The conference will provide opportunities for participants to learn from MRO case studies, as well as discuss some of the associated aspects of dealing with MROs, such as the impact on the SAR responders themselves, as well as the different available tools and technologies that could help with MROs.

A feature of the Gothenburg conferences has been the chance for participants to discuss these and other topical issues with some of the world’s leading experts on MROs – people who have faced the challenges that MROs present at first hand.

The sessions on Safeguarding the Mental Health of SAR Responders and Conducting Safe SAR Operations During a Pandemic will also be led by experts in these fields and will provide an opportunity to discuss and share experiences on these key topics.

If you’ve attended one of our conferences before, you will know that they are different, challenging, focused, fun – and, most of all, interactive.

And, as usual, there will be a live exercise element to the conference, on the afternoon of Sunday, 17 October 2021, which you will not want to miss!

If you are in the shipping or offshore industries, or emergency response organisations at sea or on land, you should attend this key event
