AWA DANCE is now accepting applications for its 2022 Mentorship Programme.

Did you know that only 50% of women have access to mentors?  We are on a mission to change that in the dance sector, the charity AWA DANCE mentoring scheme is for you to develop your leadership skills in order for you to take the next steps towards your aspirations and goals. 

If you are seeking to boost your career or perhaps change direction within the dance sector, AWA DANCE can guide you into taking the next step. We want to hear from professionals in the UK dance sector that are interested in developing leadership skills to progress their career. The charity AWA DANCE is the only organisation in the UK dance sector promoting leadership for women and girls. Join us to be guided by accomplished women professionals, leading within the industry and Feel empowered by women supporting women.

What we offer:
Our 7 month mentorship programme gives participants access to some of the most successful women in the UK dance sector. You will have one to one sessions with your matched mentor (based on your goals), group sessions and the opportunity to have individual time and feedback from AWA DANCE Director, Avatâra Ayuso. We provide you with tailored information and resources including a private facebook group to network with other participants. To monitor your development throughout the programme, we support you by providing tools to track and analyse your progress. AWA DANCE will also invite you to attend other programmes during 2022 at a discounted rate or free of charge. 

The 7 month programme includes:
  • Three 1:1 sessions with your matched mentor
  • Three group sessions facilitated by Avatâra Ayuso
  • One 30min feedback session with Avatâra Ayuso on your CV, applications, or any relevant matter
  • Leadership progress tracking
  • Access to the AWA DANCE private facebook group
  • Resources tailored to your journey
  • Invitation to join AWA DANCE programmes, at a discounted rate or free of charge
Total Cost: 
£375 

Please note that all places on this programme are subsidised by AWA DANCE. The fee will be due before the commencement of the programme in June. If needed, payment plans are available to spread the cost across three instalments due to be paid in June, August and October. 

AWA DANCE is also offering one bursary for one participant to take part this programme free of charge. The bursary is for people who would not be able to afford the programme otherwise.
Criteria to apply:
  • Must identify as a woman
  • Based in the UK
  • Not currently in education and must have at least 4 years of professional experience
  • Be able to attend the online group mentoring sessions: Saturday 11th June 10-12pm, Saturday 10th September 10-12pm, Saturday 3rd December 10-12pm
  • Must be a professional in the Dance sector: You can be a Choreographer, Producer, Photographer, Movement Director, Teacher, Dance Writer, Dancer, Podcaster, etc
  • You can be at any stage of your career early/mid/late

MENTOR PREFERENCE

Please choose three out of the five mentors you wish to be partnered with most and place them in order oh first - third choice. As a reminder, the mentors you have to choose from are: Viviana Durante, Funmi Adewole, Melanie Precious, Anja Meinhardt and Arunima Kumar. Please ensure that you have thoroughly researched each mentor so you know who you think will suit you and your needs best. If you are selected, we will try to accommodate your preference, but rest assured that all our mentors are professionals that will give you invaluable experience.

There is only one bursary position available for those who absolutely cannot afford the programme. Please be aware the bursary applications will be reviewed separately and you will not be eligible for one of the four paid mentoring positions if you are unsuccessful in receiving the bursary.
