Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. Please read through the information section first, before completing the consent section.

This survey has 4 multiple choice questions, and you can add more details to your answers if you wish. Depending on how much detail you wish to give, this should take between 5 to 15 minutes to complete. Unfortunately, progress cannot be saved, so you will need to complete the survey in one sitting.

We will share anonymised results once the information from all our engagement work is complete.
About our accessible housing work

What’s this about?

People with MND often need accessible homes. But there are problems with access to suitable housing or housing adaptations, such as long waits, limited financial help, bureaucracy, and varied provision depending on where you live. The system often fails people with MND. Ultimately, we want to:
  • push for improvements so people with MND and their families can access the homes or adaptations they need, when they need them
  • tackle these issues through a campaign starting later in 2018, likely as part of the next phase of ‘Champion the Charter’ and ‘MND Costs’
We want to get our approach right, so we’re seeking views from varied stakeholders, including members and volunteers of the MND Association.

What are we going to do?

We will be carrying out an engagement project from now until the end of May to find out about what the problems are with adapting existing homes and finding accessible homes. We want to know how the Association could help improve the situation for those living with MND and their families. This will include:
  • discussion sessions at regional meetings and conferences
  • interviews with selected councillors and council staff
  • online surveys to all stakeholders
  • plus more activity as needed!

How are we going to do this?

We will be talking to people living with and affected by MND; Campaigns Contacts; other branch and group volunteers; MND Association staff; local councillors and council staff; and other stakeholders. We will also gather further evidence on accessible housing issues for people with MND via Freedom of Information requests.

What will we do with this information?

We will keep all views or data collected stored securely in line with our legal responsibilities. We will produce a report on the findings, including useful insights, examples of good practice, and recommendations on how to push for improvements to the accessible housing system. Our long-term aim is that people with MND and their families can access the homes or adaptations they need.
