The proposals
The plans, which represent a multimillion-pound investment in Chelmsford, will deliver:
- A new, modern 1,414 sq m (net sales) Lidl store, with a dedicated in-store bakery
- Lidl’s full range of award-winning, great-value products
- A 134-space car park, including 6 disabled spaces, 9 parent and child spaces and 2 electric vehicle charging points
- Up to 40 new full and part-time jobs
- A convenient place for local residents to do their shopping
- More shopping choice.
Land for possible community enhancement
If planning consent is granted, there is an opportunity to provide community facilities on the land immediately to the east of the proposed store and, in order to provide safer access, to enhance the existing footpaths to the Springfield Lyons Bronze Age Enclosure, which will remain protected and untouched.
One option, of course, is to do absolutely nothing with the land immediately to the east of the proposed store; however, we would very much welcome your suggestions and ideas on how this piece of land could be improved for the benefit of the community.
Please note that this piece of land does not form part of our planning application.
