Evacuation Strategy
If you have an evacuation strategy that includes: Stay Put; Simultaneous; Phased or Progressive Horizontal Evacuation, please click Yes to the relevant button within question 11.
Stay Put - Is a process whereby only the residents from flats directly affected by fire, heat or smoke need to evacuate. Residents in unaffected parts of the premises should be protected by effective compartmentalisation and remain in their protected compartment, rather than risking exposure to heat and smoke during the process of evacuation.
Simultaneous - Is a process where it would be unreasonable to expect the occupants to remain in an affected area for a prolonged time when there is a fire, and immediately evacuate the premises.
Phased - Is a process where the first people to be evacuated are all those on the storey most immediately affected by the fire, and those on the other floors with impaired ability to evacuate. The remaining floors are then evacuated, usually two at a time.
Progressive Horizontal Evacuation - Is the process of evacuating people into an adjoining fire compartment on the same level, from which they can later evacuate to a place of ultimate safety.
