ADR UK Research Fellowship Call (2020) Ministry of Justice Magistrates' and Crown Court Datasets
Are you interested in applying or do you have any questions about the call or the data?
ADR UK is launching an open call for applications for an initial 6-month research fellowship scheme to conduct analysis using the magistrates' court and Crown Court datasets. These include magistrates’ and Crown Court defendant case level data, and are the first research-ready datasets resulting from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ)-led Data First project, funded by ADR UK.
This will be the first of a number of open calls seeking proposals from individual researchers to be the first users of newly available administrative data. Joint or team applications are unfortunately not eligible at this time, though proposals may factor in research support or leadership and letters from supporting organisations are encouraged. Research Fellows will conduct research and analysis and derive insights from the data to showcase their potential for policy impact and public benefit, and develop them as a useful research resource for future users. The data is held and will be made available to fellows via the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Secure Research Service (SRS).
ADR UK will act as the key liaison point between Research Fellows and data owners, ensuring that data access for each project is approved and will organise at least one engagement event with key policy stakeholders. Applicants will need to demonstrate their willingness to collaborate, to capture and share learning from the data for the benefit of future users, actively contribute to ADR UK’s engagement event(s), and commit to delivering accessible and user-friendly outputs.
