Building for the future

As part of the pre-planning application process, a public consultation is underway from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 22 September 2019 for the Codsall Community Hub. This exciting proposal involves investment in the Council’s headquarters situated on Wolverhampton Road and includes a major refurbishment of the Council Offices, a new build to the front of the building and increased car parking.

You can get involved in the following ways:
  • Provide feedback via this online survey
  • Meet the implementation team on Friday 20 September 2019 from 2pm to 7pm in the Council foyer (Wolverhampton Road, Codsall, WV8 1PX)
  • See the proposed plans on display in the Council foyer
  • See the proposed plans online here

The Codsall Community Hub will see the introduction of a new library, refurbished canteen and coffee bar, GP surgery, NHS community outreach teams and a local policing team. In addition, space will be available for local businesses including retail and offices through the South Staffordshire Business Hub, which is already located at the Council Offices, creating an ideal environment for local business to grow.

Specialist teams from across the public, health, private and voluntary sectors will be co-located together in the Community Hub’s modern, agile working and collaborative environment. As well as helping improve service integration for those supporting the district’s most vulnerable residents, this will help reduce taxpayer spend by condensing multiple buildings into one.

The project is forecast to cost £8 million and rental income will offset costs enabling the project to be cost neutral to the taxpayer. Benefits to residents will include access to multiple services on one site set in a modern environment with good local and regional transport links. Investment in the Council Offices will also secure the building’s long-term future, creating a Community Hub where residents and future generations can socialise, learn, work, access services, dine, shop and socialise.
