The BBC micro:bit has just arrived in school and many teachers will be starting to plan lessons around it. The purpose of the current project is to conduct a short evaluation to gather some information on how teachers and students perceive the device and what can be learned through working with it. This research is funded by Microsoft and being run by King's College London. The output of the research will also feed into any discussions about future developments or modifications.
This research conforms to King's College London ethical guidelines. Anybody participating in the research will be asked to give their written consent. There are two levels of engagement with this project.
1. Teacher interview only: As a Year 7 teacher, we would like to interview you about your experiences of teaching Year 7 with the Micro:Bit
2. Teacher interview and student focus group: we would like a few schools who would be willing for their year 7 students to participate in focus groups (7-10 students) about their experience, either during a lunchtime or after school.
Initial information gathering will take place in April and May
Interviews and focus groups will take place in June and July.
