Tower Hamlets Council is preparing a Local Plan that will guide development across the borough over the next ten to 15 years.

The council is asking for views from the public on what the Plan should contain.

A consultation document “Our Borough, Our Plan: A New Local Plan First Steps” has been prepared to help identify the challenges and opportunities related to the borough’s future development

Ongoing demand for housing, local business, community facilities and infrastructure, driven by London’s population growth and plans to build almost 40,000 new homes over the next ten years, are included in the scope for the local strategy.

Feedback and comment will be welcomed online between December 14 December, 2015 and February 8, 2016.

A series of drop-in sessions will also be organised for the public to attend during January and February 2016.

Councillor Rachel Blake, cabinet member for Strategic Development added: “We want local people to help us ensure that Tower Hamlets can harness opportunities going forward by being part of this consultation process.
"Affordable homes, local jobs, leisure and shopping facilities are important to so many residents. Feedback from this consultation will play a critical role in shaping Tower Hamlets’ future.”
