Liverpool Versus Cancer: Dispelling Fear, Fatalism and Myths

This questionnaire is for people living in Cheshire and Merseyside and you must be 18 years of age or older to complete it.

Information about this questionnaire:
You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide whether to take part, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve.

This study aims to find out what you, the people of Liverpool, understand about cancer, what you would like to know about cancer and how we can communicate better when it comes to cancer.

Cancer rates in Liverpool are worse than the English average, especially in certain areas. We want to find out if better information and communication about cancer will help us find cancer earlier and improve treatments.

Eventually we hope to design a leaflet, TV advert, poster, radio advert or other medium, specifically designed for the people of Liverpool, by the people of Liverpool about cancer.

If you would like to help us and take part in the study, all you have to do is answer a few questions.

What kind of questions will I be asked?

1.    Questions about your understanding of cancer and treatments

2.    Questions about how you currently get information about cancer and how you would prefer to get information about cancer

3.    What do you want to know about cancer?

4.  Some basic information about you, age range, gender, first line of your postcode etc, and whether or not you’ve ever been diagnosed with cancer

How will my answers be used?
The questionnaire will take just a few minutes to complete and your answers will be anonymous. Information will only be shared as combined results, individual questionnaires will not be seen by any researchers outside this study. You do not have to answer any questions that you do not wish to.

Your participation will provide researchers, Doctors and policy makers with important information which includes; where to focus scientific research, how to provide understandable information, and to answer questions put forward by the public.
