Lanark Community Development Trust (LCDT) is a community led charity that aims to improve the lives of the people of Lanark and its surrounding area. We do this through developing projects and initiatives that matter to local people.
Over the years, we have developed a horticultural training centre at Castlebank Park, undertaken a number of local heritage projects and worked with South Lanarkshire Council to identify key regeneration projects, such as the former Royal Oak Hotel building. We made the case for establishing the Business Improvement District (BID) run by Discover Lanark, now a separate and independent company.
More recently, we have been leading on the Vision for Lanark, an ambitious strategy bringing together key partners to protect and develop the assets of the historic burgh, the World Heritage Site of New Lanark and the setting of the Falls of Clyde. The final consultation on the Vision strategy and its launch is in planning.
Now 12 years old, LCDT is considering its own future direction. Work on the Vision for Lanark has identified a number of local challenges. The impact of the pandemic has also given us pause for thought. Local needs and priorities may have changed and we need to plan for the future.
We want to hear your views about where the Trust should be focusing its efforts for common good. What you tell us will help to plan the things that will happen here and which will make a direct difference to people's lives and the community as a whole. Please take some time to complete this survey and make sure that your voice is heard.
Online surveys are collected automatically and you can complete this survey anonymously. Due to COVID 19 we are using a variety of methods to gather your views including this survey, social media, and virtual open meetings. Please look out for information on the Lanark website: https://www.lanark.co.uk/ and our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LanarkCDT/ and take part in the conversation.
