The Financial Reporting Lab is currently carrying out a project that is considering the reporting of risk and viability disclosures in the annual report. Although the reporting of principal risks and uncertainties is not new, the 2014 revision of the UK Corporate Governance Code introduced the requirement for boards to confirm that they had undertaken a ‘robust assessment’ of principal risks and to make a statement confirming the viability of the company (see Appendix B).

The FRC reviewed the implementation of Viability Statement reporting in its recent review of governance and highlighted that there are some areas for improvement (see pg 13 onwards). With this in mind, we have designed a short survey to provide us with some insight into the information which you, as an investor, find useful in these disclosures. Many thanks in advance for your contribution.
