Guidance Notes

As leader and champion for young people’s contemporary dance in the North West, our youth company is an incubation space for young dancers wanting to explore whether a career in the arts is for them.

If you are 14-19 and based in the North West, be part of the experience:
  • Work with nationally renowned choreographers and dancers (the company's first choreographer in residence will be Kiera Martin - https://keiradance.com/)
  • Gain a well-rounded view of what working as a dance artist is like
  • Take part in festivals, such as Big Up North, UDance and Edinburgh Fringe
  • Gain an insight into creating outside work and cross-art form performances
  • Focus on your own creativity through a variety of contemporary techniques
  • Explore wider arts career options
  • Feel empowered to be creative, different and resilient; developing into the artist you want to become
Successful applicants will have strong technique and creative skills, will be engaging performers and committed dancers who want to learn about all aspects of life as a professional artist. This may involve the development of teaching, choreography and fund-raising skills, as well as devising and touring new works by nationally respected choreographers and youth dance specialists.

Rehearsals currently take place once a month on a Sunday, with choreographic residencies taking place during the holidays.

Dates you will need to be available for are 23rd, 27th, 28th and 29th August. The 23rd will be our induction day and the further dates are our set devising intensive with days with Keira Martin.

There are also further technical training opportunities through the Ludus Dance Boost It programme. For more information visit http://www.ludusdance.org/http://www.ludusdance.org/Boost-It
