Minchinhampton Market House Public Consultation |
Thank you for your outstanding response to our appeal in 2020
Right now we would like to consult you about our hopes for further improvement in the Undercroft and Hall in 2021. We can bid in January for about £20,000 as a Village Hall Improvement Grant. The awards panel for this have asked us to consult with you before submitting our bid.
We can’t hold a public meeting at this time, so we want you to tell us by answering a few simple questions.
Over £15,000 was given by you the residents in 2020.
£5,000 was granted by the Parish Council from the rates that you pay.
Then £20,000 was granted by the Government in their support of community enterprises like the Market House.
We were able to get the guttering renewed/refurbished.
The roof was repaired.
The entrance hall, stairway, and lighting have been improved.
A list of the benefactors, including those who gave to the works carried out, will be displayed in 2021
An architect has carried out a survey of the Undercroft to the Market House. The floor is uneven as you know, with subsidence in the south western corner, and some broken pavers. Access is poor from the street or the Hall.
It would be a benefit to users if better power and light services could be provided.
It would be a benefit to the market, to exhibitors and to hirers who want to use both the Hall and the Undercroft if some of the barriers could be removed during use.
Statements of condition, needs, heritage, etc have been prepared. The work would have to be to approved conservation standards.
But what do You think?
