Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wants to ensure that all women and people can see themselves reflected in the services they use across both of our hospital sites.
Research has shown that how we are described by others not only creates inclusivity but also has a significant impact on our health and wellbeing. It also strongly influences how likely we are to access necessary healthcare.
As an organisation, we want to move towards using inclusive language (includes everyone) as part of Business As Usual (BAU) within our services to help improve health outcomes and address existing discriminatory language practices (National LGBTI Health Alliance 2014).
Due to the nature of the service and aims of this project, we are starting with a focus on our maternity services. It would really help us if you could spare five minutes to complete this short survey. Your thoughts and opinions of how we communicate with you would really help us in gathering an accurate vision of where we currently are to shape a robust action plan that has been shaped by members of our key audience.
It is very important to clarify that this survey is anonymous and strictly confidential. Individual answers will not be shared, only results of the full survey once closed. This survey will not affect or contribute to your maternity care plan that you may have with us.
