The Southwater Neighbourhood Warden Scheme aims to improve community safety by tackling crime and anti-social behaviour and improve community confidence. The Wardens aim is to engage with local community and statutory groups, it seeks to identify and address concerns in relation to community safety and the environment.
Two Neighbourhood Wardens are employed Full Time in Southwater. These Wardens engage with, support and listen to the needs of local communities and act as a deterrent to help reduce low level crime and anti-social behaviour as well as encourage good environmental conduct such as prevention of litter of all types.
Southwater Parish Council employ the Wardens, however, they are managed by Horsham District Council in conjunction with Southwater. The two year pilot scheme will end in April 2021 and an evaluation in its effectiveness is required to ascertain the future needs in Southwater.
