Welcome to the British Institute of Interior Design's Diversity In Interior Design Survey

Did you know that there is currently no research on the diversity of the UK interior design profession?

The British Institute of Interior Design is hoping to address this with the first ever ‘Diversity in Interior Design’ survey. We are asking all professional interior designers, junior and senior, employees and practice owners, to complete the survey to help us understand the make-up of the profession.

By not addressing this lack of diversity, the industry is losing out on great talent, a variety of viewpoints and different design perspectives which, in the long-term, everyone can benefit from. Our vision is an interior design profession that is open to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, socio economic background, age or disability.

By completing this survey, you will not only help to contribute to a picture of the current profession, but you will also be providing a benchmark so progress can be tracked, and trends can be identified over periods of time. It will help us with the development of better and more informed, inclusive decision making.

It will only take 5 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. In addition to telling us some facts about yourself you will also be asked for your views on diversity in interior design. All questions are optional. You are not obliged to answer any of these questions but the more information you supply, the more effective our monitoring will be. All information supplied will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The results of the survey will be published on our website in December 2020.
