The repatriation of foreign fighters and their families from Syria and Iraq has been a heated political debate over the last year. While Central Asian and Balkans countries have been repatriating a considerable number of their citizens, other governments have been more reluctant. Nonetheless, some countries have recently showed signs that they might start taking a more active repatriation policy. Against this backdrop, cities will need to prepare to support national governments in rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.
