Outlander Training Programme 2020
supported by Screen Scotland and Screen Skills
The internationally acclaimed TV drama - OUTLANDER - will start filming its sixth season in 2020. Based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon, the TV series was developed by Ronald D Moore and stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin. Broadcast in 214 territories across the world, OUTLANDER is produced in Scotland by Left Bank Pictures, Starz and Sony. Starz distribute in the US where it is ranked as the number 1 or 2 cable programme every week that it is on air. SONY International sell the show worldwide and it is one of the top 5 US series in key territories such as the UK, Germany, Spain, Australia and Canada.

We are recruiting up to 16 trainees, across various departments to train on Outlander Season 6. As a trainee on Outlander you will be learning from some of the finest technicians working in the film and television industry. The experience of training within in a real filming environment will create a strong platform for our trainees to embark on successful careers within this industry.  

TRAINEESHIP
All trainees will attend an induction course at the start of their placement as well as a shadowing scheme where trainees will gain experience from other departments. You will have a training plan and there will also be regular meetings with supervisors to monitor your trainee development.  We ask trainees to make the most of every opportunity presented to them and expect them to be proactive in their development.

Trainees will be paid salaries between: £370.60 and £501.40 per week plus holiday entitlement, for between 42.5 and 57.5 hours per week, depending on role and experience.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Outlander Training Programme supports diversity and encourages applications from across all sections of the community.  No formal  qualifications are required, however applicants must be:
  • Normally resident in Scotland (The production base is Cumbernauld)
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
  • Be over 23 years old with clean driving licence
  • Have experience in Event Management / Facilities / Outdoor Events 
  • Have a basic understanding of the film and television industry, preferably with relevant work experience
  • Be practically minded 
FREELANCER SKILLS REQUIRED

TRAINEE ROLE
Here is a small summary of the types of activities the Location trainee will be involved in:
  • Assisting the crew on location
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of locations
  • Working with the locations department to facilitate the needs of other departments on location
  • Helping with the management of office space, workshops and construction areas
  • Helping maintain a healthy, safe and environmentally friendly set
  • Moving and operating electrical equipment on location
  • Liaising with location owners/representatives
  • Liaising with members of the public
  • Assisting location department with all aspects of the production working on location
  • Reacting to all instructions from the department in a polite, diligent, timely and efficient manner
  • Using own initiative during quiet periods on set and at other times when appropriate
KEY DATES
The deadline for applications is 5pm on 13th March 2020
Interviews will be held between 23rd & 27th March 2020
The Traineeship will commence on 6th April 2020 and run to approx December 2020
