In the January 2021 issue, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras discusses his latest recording of Beethoven’s ‘Triple’ Concerto with violinist Isabelle Faust, pianist Alexander Melnikov and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under Pablo Heras-Casado. ’It’s a very dense, demanding piece, particularly for us cellists,’ says Queyras. ’But with Isabelle, there is something about the way we both start a phrase, the way we put the bow on the string, the way we breathe, the way we use vibrato and choose our intonation. Our choices go very naturally in the same direction.’

The CD will be released by Harmonia Mundi in February and we have ten copies to give away. To enter the competition, simply enter your details below.
