Purpose of this survey

In 2017, the Government published its Green Paper for Transforming children and young people’s mental health, which detailed proposals for expanding access to mental health care for children and young people.

Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group received funding in 2019 to ensure that children and young people are able to easily access to emotional health and wellbeing support in schools and colleges.

Through this funding, Upper Batley High School along with 78 other schools in the region will have a dedicated Mental Health Support Team from Spring 2020.

Mental Health Support Teams are made up of specially trained NHS practitioners who provide early intervention support to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues. such as mild to moderate anxiety, as well as helping staff within a school or college setting to provide a ‘whole school approach’ to mental health and wellbeing. The teams will act as a link with local children and young people’s mental health services  You can find out more about these teams at: https://www.england.nhs.uk/mental-health/cyp/trailblazers/.

Mental Health Support Teams will begin offering support in schools in Spring 2020. Before then, the team wants to gather teachers, students and parents views on what is working well and what support they would like to see from the Mental Health Support Teams.

The information you share in this survey will remain anonymous and will shape how the MHST is run in your child’s school. It takes approximately 2 minutes to complete.
