Health research (sometimes called ‘medical research’ or ‘clinical research’) refers to research that is done to learn more about our health.

Research can help find better ways of preventing or diagnosing disease. It can identify new ways to treat diseases, such as developing a new medicine. It can also help us understand why diseases occur and who is at risk of developing them.
