Reasons for this survey

Furniture was one of seven sectors targeted in Defra’s recent Draft Waste Prevention Plan for England (Chapter 7)[1]. The Government has also adopted a 2030 goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 68%, compared to those in 1990.

In this context, we need to understand the environmental targets adopted and actions being taken by the furniture industry – hence this survey of members of the affiliated trade associations that make up the British Furniture Confederation (BFC). We plan to use your responses to define precisely how we can best assist the delivery of industry-wide waste reduction and climate ambitions. No individual company responses will be published.

Finally, a big thank you for completing this survey and helping us to understand better the sustainability status of our sector and how we can best support you and the industry as a whole to address the challenges of climate change.

Yours faithfully

The BFC Executive Team
