Do you agree that there is a need for a school that caters for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health and/or autistic spectrum disorder needs in the Romford area?The London Borough of Havering has confirmed that there is a need for additional high quality SEND places in the Romford area. Havering’s most recent records show that the Borough is supporting 2,016 children, with the number of children with special educational needs growing faster than forecasted. A new school would take the pressure off the existing three special educational needs schools which are full to capacity and significantly reduce the cost of sending pupils to schools outside the Borough, while ensuring children receive the specialist help they need. Do you agree with the overarching vision for the school?The overarching vision for the school is to provide individualised support for all students and prepare them to become successful independent adults that make a positive contribution to their community, hence becoming valuable members of a better society.The Trust believes that an ambitious, well-planned curriculum is essential for not only achieving successful academic outcomes but also in effectively meeting the SEMH and ASD needs of their learners. The National Curriculum will be followed because the Trust’s aspirations are that pupils will achieve educational standards commensurate with mainstream settings. As the school develops, the Trust will ensure that additional therapies are in place as part of personalised programmes of learning.
