Survey for health and care professionals

The number of children and young people needing help and support for their mental health and emotional wellbeing is growing. While staff work hard to get children and young people the help and support they need, the system doesn’t always work as well as it should, with children, young people, their families and carers saying that they wait too long for an assessment or diagnosis, they don’t know what services are available or don’t feel that support is forthcoming or proactive enough. This is something that local health and social care bodies have collectively agreed needs to change.

The NHS and local authorities across Sussex* have commissioned a review of the emotional health and wellbeing support available for local children and young people between 0-18 years of age and including transition into adulthood.

The review is independently chaired and will give an up-to-date perspective about the way our system works in designing and delivering emotional health and wellbeing services and support for children and young people. It will look at evidence, insights and feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders – including clinicians and people who work in services, children, young people and their families - to produce a report with recommendations for how services and support can be improved.

We are keen to hear from a range of stakeholders to know what you think works well about the current system and hear about your ideas for improvement.

Please find attached a link to a survey to capture your opinions. This should not take more than ten minutes to complete and your input will inform the report and recommendations.

If you have any further feedback that you wish to be included in the review, please email the review team by contacting Sarah Lofts at s.lofts@nhs.net
