All healthcare professionals working in the perioperative environment are exposed to surgical plume. This is one of the most overlooked hazards in the operating theatre. Inhalation of surgical plume caused by energy-based device emissions can adversely affect the respiratory systems of theatre staff, patients and visitors.
AfPP is committed to raising awareness regarding the effects of exposure to surgical plume and the mandation of evacuation devices in all operating theatres and procedural rooms.
By completing this survey you can help us to better understand how hospitals are currently managing surgical plume and the symptoms practitioners have experienced. This will shape our future work on reducing the risks associated with surgical plume to progress safer surgery.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
