The International Slavery Museum opened in 2007and is the only national museum in the world to focus on the transatlantic slave trade and its legacies. With support, the next stage in the development of the museum could see it expand into the adjacent Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Building. This would include providing the museum with a new entrance, spaces to engage in education and community activities, and facilities for research on topics such as family history, Black and African history and human rights issues. This development work is the subject of the funding application this research and feedback will support.
