Love Black Beauty? Inspired by My Friend Flicka? For budding authors who fancy getting their own script in print, Horse & Hound is running a Christmas short-story competition, open to all ages, on the theme of winter and horses or ponies. Stories should be no longer than 1,000 words. 

There are two age categories: under-16 (born on or after 1/1/2005) and over-16 (born before 1/1/2005)

Terms and Conditions: By taking part, you agree to be bound by these terms and the Competition Rules: https://www.futureplc.com/competition-rules/. Entries must be submitted by 11pm (GMT) on 22 November 2020.  Late or incomplete entries, or entries in excess of 1000 words, will be disqualified. Entries and are limited to one per individual. Open to all UK residents, except employees of Future Publishing Limited ("Future") and any party involved in the competition. There are two age categories: under 16 (born on or after 1/1/05) and over 16 (born before 1/1/05). All entries in the U16 category must be submitted by a parent/guardian on behalf of the child. The winner will be selected by an independent judge in his/her sole discretion from a shortlist of 5 entries selected by a panel of judges from the Horse & Hound Team.  The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  The winner will be notified by email or telephone by the 14 December. There will be one (1) winner in each category whose entry will be printed in Issue 51 of Horse & Hound Magazine and on the Horse & Hound website. The prize is non-transferable and non-refundable. There is no cash alternative.  All entries will become the property of Future upon receipt and will not be returned. You retain all rights you have in the copyright and other intellectual property rights comprising your entry but, by entering the Competition, you grant Future, its licensees and the Competition sponsor (if any), the right free of charge to republish your entry in any medium or format. You warrant that the entry is entirely your own work and not copied or adapted from any other source.
