Introduction

Since March 2020, we have all been living through some of the most difficult times any of us will have ever experienced.

In order to make room for the sudden need for more beds as a result of coronavirus, the NHS had to change the way it discharged people from hospital. But what was your experience?

In addition to this, people being admitted to hospital faced uncertainty and this was sometimes made worse by the fact that they could not receive visitors and may have been cut off from relatives and loved ones.

Carers had much more limited access to hospital staff whilst trying to obtain information about the condition of their relatives, friends or clients.

This was a completely new situation for everyone, and lots of changes had to be made to adapt to the ever changing situation and in order to comply with the most recent Government guidance.

If you had a resident/client who was admitted to hospital anytime from March 2020, Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees want to hear your experience. What was communication like between yourself and the hospital staff. Were you kept sufficiently informed?  Were you involved in the discharge process, did this go well or could it have been better?

If you were asked to receive a resident/client from hospital how smoothly did this go?
