Why are we looking at this issue?

The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland seeks to provide further guidance for employers in relation to creating a good and harmonious workplace that values equality and diversity.  A good and harmonious workplace is a welcoming and inclusive environment where all persons are treated with dignity and respect; and no person is subjected to harassment by conduct that is related to religious belief; political opinion; sex; gender reassignment; race; age; sexual orientation; disability; being married or being in a civil partnership.

We are gathering evidence to enhance our understanding of what makes a welcoming and inclusive working environment and highlight any good practice from organisations.  This will assist other employers who aspire to promote welcoming and inclusive working environments within their own workplace.

We appreciate your views as an employer or on behalf of your organisation.  The survey should take no more than 10 minutes and should be completed by a member of staff who is familiar with the development and implementation of employment policies.  We will treat your views and comments confidentially and neither you or your organisation will be identified in the survey. These commitments are outlined in our confidentiality statement at the end of the survey.
