INFORMATION SHEET
for Survey Participants

We would like to invite you to take part in this brief online survey which is open to transgender* and non-binary* people living in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or the United Kingdom.

*Definition
For the purpose of this study the terms 'transgender' and 'non-binary' are umbrella terms for anyone whose gender identity or gender expression does not fully correspond with the sex they were assigned at birth.

Purpose of the study
This study aims to gain insight into what transgender and non-binary individuals consider important, desirable and attainable in their gender affirming / physical transitioning and will focus on the potential role that cosmetic procedures such as botox and dermal fillers could play in facial feminisation and masculinisation.

What will I be required to do?
You are invited to complete a brief online survey that will take approximately  5-10 minutes of your time. You must be 18 years of age or older and currently residing in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or the United Kingdom.  Participation is entirely voluntary and you may skip any questions you do not wish to complete.

All the information you give will be anonymous and completely confidential. It is not possible for you to be identified from the information you provide and your IP address will NOT be recorded. Your responses will be collected and stored securely (SurveyMonkey® Privacy Policy and Security Statement).

This survey may ask questions of a personal and potentially sensitive nature. The researchers would encourage you to consider if the nature of these questions is likely to cause you distress or anxiety, before undertaking this survey. You will be asked about your sex assigned at birth, and how you feel about your physical appearance and your gender identity. Questions about hormone treatment and gender affirming procedures are also asked. An example of a survey question that may be experienced as distressing would be scoring the statement “I do not feel that my appearance reflects my gender identity”. You do not need to answer these questions if you prefer not to, and if you are triggered by any material in the survey we encourage you to seek support from a professional or support organisation that can help, like the ones we have included at the end of this information sheet.

How do I agree to participate?
By participating in this survey, you are acknowledging you have read and understood the above information and are 18 years of age or older.  You also understand that your participation is strictly voluntary and that you can withdraw at any time.
