Welcome to 'Humans of the US', an exciting social media project all about the people behind our communities: you!

Inspired by the famous Humans of New York photoblog, as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations we want to capture and share your stories. We are looking to create a collection of personal stories accompanied by beautiful photos that share how and when the United Synagogue has been a part of your or your family's life.

Happy times or sad, humorous or more serious, we want to hear about any occasion where you or your family have had a meaningful interaction with the United Synagogue, whether with your shul, your community or your Rabbi or Rebbetzen.

All you need to do is write up to 300 words on a poignant, interesting or uplifting event or episode, a friendship or relationship, a change in your life or anything else you want to tell the world about, linked to being part of a US community. All stories will be published online accompanied by personal photos or specially-taken professional portrait photographs: and we want to publish as many as possible!

Please see these examples stories we’ve put together to see how your story might be presented…and get writing. You are our story.

Please note:
  • By sharing information you are giving us permission to edit appropriately and to publish it, including use for marketing purposes
  • If you are submitting information on behalf of someone else, please include the relevant contact details in the comments box at the end.
  • If you are under 18 years old, we will need consent from a legal guardian for your story to be shared. Please leave relevant details in the "Comments" box, below.

Thank you so much for joining in this exciting campaign!
