Since our last village questionnaire, back in 2010, we have been able to achieve many of the improvements residents cited as much needed or wanted. We now have an Accredited Community Safety Officer, who spends around 10 hours a week in the village helping us tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour, dog fouling, littering and fly-tipping. New Road Playing Field has been rejuvenated and now includes a new skate park, running tracks, a changing places toilet block and extended car park. This was a huge project for the Council and we are delighted to see it being so well used.

The appearance of the village centre has also been much improved, following suggestions made in the last questionnaire. There is now a new and extended noticeboard, a large footpath map of Swanmore and regularly changed floral displays. We are also currently working on projects to replace the street lighting with LED lamps and extend the village car park, as well as a number of road safety schemes.

Inevitably, not all of your suggestions have been achievable. We have tried and failed to persuade the neighbouring GP health centres to set up a satellite surgery in the village and, sadly, as much as many people would like a Swanmore swimming pool that too is unlikely to happen.

We now want to hear from you again so that we can focus on delivering the services and facilities Swanmore residents wish to see going forward.
