Contested (or difficult or problematic) heritage has been in the headlines a great deal recently. There are many views on how to best manage this heritage, with some wanting to preserve it, others wanting to reinterpret it, and yet others wanting to remove or move it. We have therefore drafted this guidance for those who own or manage contested heritage. We are looking to engage with all viewpoints on this complex issue.
