INTRODUCTION

NB. This is a completely anonymous 5 minute survey, aimed only at singers who are not currently joining in with their choirs online. All the results will be combined to give an overall picture of the views expressed.

As you probably know, some choirs have moved their singing online since the onset of the C19 pandemic. Many singers have joined in and many have not, perhaps feeling that singing online is not for them.

I'm exploring the positives and negatives of singing as a group online and I'd love to know your views. I'm doing this for my own study but also to help choir leaders (and I'm one) understand what does and doesn't work when leading singing online, and what motivates singers to join in or not. Thank you so much for your help!

At the end of the survey just click on COMPLETED! I'd be very grateful if you are able to do this asap, and by Monday 13th July latest. Thanks.

Question Title

* 1. Have you ever used online video calls like Facetime, Messenger, WhatsApp or Zoom? Which ones?

Question Title

* 2. Have you seen any of the Virtual Choir Videos produced by many different groups during Lockdown? What did you think of them?

Question Title

* 3. Can you say what puts you off having a go singing online with your choir?

N.B. For information: Hearing and Seeing in ONLINE Rehearsals.
You cannot be heard while you are singing, nor will you hear any others singers, since everyone needs to remain 'muted'. This is because only one singer can be hard at a time and that needs to be the person leading the session.
If you don't want to be seen that's fine. It's easy to turn off your camera, but still see everyone else and hear what's going on!

Question Title

* 4. Can you say what might motivate you to have a try at singing online with your choir?

N.B. For information: What do I hear while we are singing.?
You will hear the music sent to your device by the choir leader. Usually that's a track, or live playing, including one or more voices that you can sing along with.

Question Title

* 5. Imagine you wanted to come and try taking part - what starting times would be best for you? Each lasting an hour.

Question Title

* 6. It's a strange thing at first - singing online. But most people love it after a few goes! Choir leaders are keen to encourage as many members as possible to at least try out the ONLINE sessions. Could you be persuaded to give it a try?

Question Title

* 7. Thank you so much for helping with this. Is there anything else you'd like to add?
