Insourcing; The 2017 Update Report 

Following previous APSE reports on insourcing APSE is undertaking a further survey to assess the most recent examples of insourcing as a means to deliver efficient and effective council services. By 'insourcing' we mean bringing a service back into the direct delivery of the local authority that has previously been delivered by an external contractor or contractors. This may have been through a private company provider, a joint venture through a public / private or public / public arrangement or even a wholly owned council company. Equally the form of insourcing may be back to direct local authority delivery, a wholly owned company or public / public joint venture.      

The results of this survey will be published but we will not attribute comments or answers to any individual respondents without their prior permission. All answers will be treated in confidence. The full report will be made available to all respondent APSE member councils.
