Community Engagement and Town and Parish Councils

Community First Oxfordshire is a community development charity providing support to Town and Parish Councils (T&PCs) and community groups throughout Oxfordshire.

We understand from community feedback that the pandemic has been difficult for communities, and volunteers (including councillors), are harder to find so working together with other groups and different people in the community makes sense to share resources and gain additional input. We are undertaking research to understand the level of engagement that T&PCs are able to facilitate with Community Action Groups (CAGs) or other informal green groups who focus on sustainability and climate related activities, young people/youth groups and other groups within their community.
 

 

We are gathering your learning to shape our support to T&PCs to assist collaborative working, strengthen communities and tackle climate related challenges. This could take the form of training, guidance and resources (such as engagement ideas and youth programmes).

We would also be very interested to hear about your experiences – what works and what doesn’t, the barriers/ challenges and benefits. We would welcome the opportunity to create case studies to share with others to encourage wider community participation so please let us know if you can spare the time for a short conversation.

The survey will close on 14th October allowing six weeks for discussion within your council and completion of the survey.
