With this in mind, please take the chance to make a statement about your dedication to sustainability by taking the Green Guild Pledge!

I pledge to help The University of Liverpool reduce its carbon footprint and achieve its sustainability goals by taking the following actions: (tick as many as you can commit to)

* 1. Energy and Greenhouse Gases

Set 'sleep' mode on my computer and monitor

Turn off the lights when I don't need them

Unplug chargers / switch off at wall socket

Use low energy bulbs where possible in lights

Wash clothes on a cooler temperature

Adjust thermostats in my home or Halls room

Walk, bike, or take public transport

Take the stairs not the lift when possible

* 2. Waste and Pollution

Use a reusable coffee mug or flask

Print double-sided

Support charity/second-hand shops

Re-use items (plastic, metal, wood etc) instead of throwing them away

Reduce waste by selecting less packaging, only taking food you will eat etc.

Use re-usable bags such as jute/canvas, not plastic

Press 'No' for ATM receipts

Recycle wherever possible

Recycle e-waste such as hand held devices & batteries

Compost food waste

Choose local and seasonal produce

Buy organic

Eat less meat

Eat sustainable seafood

Buy Fair Trade/Ethically sourced food

Shower for no more than 4 minutes

Turn off the tap when I'm brushing my teeth

Wash vegetables in a bowl instead of under a running tap

Mend or report dripping taps

Only run the dishwasher and washing machine on a full load

Keep a jug of water in the fridge for drinking

Use a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water
