Green Guild Sign Up 2016-17

Help make Liverpool the most sustainable University and a more cycle friendly city!

Only through individual effort is the sweeping change needed made possible. The Green Guild Project Team and the University Sustainability Team need your help for Liverpool to become one of the most sustainable universities.

Make a statement about your dedication to sustainability by doing the Green Guild sign up.

I agree to help The University of Liverpool reduce its carbon footprint and achieve its sustainability goals by taking the following actions: (tick as many as you can commit to)

* 1. Energy and Greenhouse Gases

Set 'sleep' mode on my computer and monitor

Turn off the lights when I don't need them

Unplug chargers / switch off at wall socket

Use low energy bulbs where possible in lights

Wash clothes on a cooler temperature

Adjust thermostats in my home or Halls room

Walk, bike, or take public transport

Take the stairs not the lift when possible

* 2. Waste and Pollution

Use a reusable coffee mug or flask

Print double-sided

Support charity/second-hand shops

Re-use items (plastic, metal, wood etc) instead of throwing them away

Reduce waste by selecting less packaging, only taking food you will eat etc.

Use re-usable bags such as jute/canvas, not plastic

Press 'No' for ATM receipts

Recycle wherever possible

Recycle e-waste such as hand held devices & batteries

Compost food waste

Choose local and seasonal produce

Buy organic

Eat less meat

Eat sustainable seafood

Buy Fair Trade/Ethically sourced food

Shower for no more than 4 minutes

Turn off the tap when I'm brushing my teeth

Wash vegetables in a bowl instead of under a running tap

Mend or report dripping taps

Only run the dishwasher and washing machine on a full load

Keep a jug of water in the fridge for drinking

Use a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water
