Dear teacher,

The Great Central Railway (GCR) is working in partnership with the National Railway Museum and Leicester City Council to develop a new heritage railway museum at their Leicester North station. The team is applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund for funding for this project and have already achieved a Round 1 pass. We are now in the process of carrying out further research to help us develop and refine our ideas.

Trains will be able to arrive and depart within the new museum and visitors will be able to have a close look at, and ride on, a locomotive. Interactive displays will reveal the stories behind the exhibits. The visitor experience will be designed to stimulate all the senses associated with rail travel and engineering from a bygone era.

Education will be an important aspect of the offer in the new museum, with activities ranging potentially supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), history, geography, literacy and art & design.  We would really like your input to help us shape our ideas at this exciting stage in the project.

How can you help?
