Davies Lane Proposed Changes to the Admissions Criteria Consultation

This consultation runs from 1st December 2018 to 31st January 2019

Davies Lane School is consulting on the proposal to continue to adopt the Waltham Forest Admission Arrangements for its schools in Waltham Forest with the single exception of an amendment to the definition of Priority 3 - Siblings in the Waltham Forest Community and Voluntary Controlled School Admissions.

The proposal is to remove the following paragraph:-

'For primary applications, children with a brother or sister on roll in Reception to Year 6 at the time of the proposed admission up to a distance of 0.5 miles from the school if the family has moved since the last sibling was offered a place'

The rationale for the proposed change is that there are a number of gaps on the school roll particularly in Years 3, 4 and 5 where elder sisters or brothers have been withdrawn from the school because a younger sibling has not been offered a place. The reason for them not being offered a place is that a new place of residence is outside the half a mile catchment area.

The impact of the proposed change will be that children who have been at the school for a number of years will not be forced to leave part way through their primary school career and thereby have their education disrupted.
