Welcome

Can't Sit Still is a dynamic young theatre company who create new, devised performances combining physical theatre, circus, puppetry and original music.  At Can't Sit Still, we tell stories, start conversations, and try to change the world.

We are currently researching and developing our new show, Plink/Boo. Plink/Boo will use a blend of physical theatre, ground based circus and live music to explore gender stereotyping in children's toys and play.

One of the inspirations for Plink/Boo is the feminist social media campaign Let Toys Be Toys, which calls for retailers and publishers to stop gender stereotyping children’s toys and books by labeling them as ‘for girls’ or ‘for boys’, and let children have the freedom to decide for themselves what they want to read and play with.

Plink/Boo furthers this campaign by not only questioning what children are playing with, but how they are playing, and their attitudes towards play. Where the campaign targets retailers and publishers, Plink/Boo will be directed at children and families. It will gently interrogate some of the beliefs that even the youngest children already hold, about what is and isn’t appropriate for them, according to their perceptions of gender identity.

Plink/Boo is targeted towards children aged between 2 and 7 years old, and this survey is for parents, guardians and carers of children in this age range.

We'd love to hear about your own experiences and views to help us make an authentic and engaging show.
Thank you.
