PART 1 - Contact Details & Background Information

Girl Geek Scotland is reaching out to schools, organisations and institutions that have an interest in helping us to develop a Mentoring Framework for Digital Technology to support school age girls across Scotland. This is a nationwide initiative funded by the Scottish Government.

We are keen to hear from the following organisations or institutions that have already delivered, or can deliver role models or mentoring to schools during 2017.

  • Apprenticeship schemes
  • Graduate Schemes
  • Colleges and Universities
  • Digital Technology Employers
  • Organisations already working in this area
This survey is for organisations and institutions. We have a separate survey for people who work at a Primary or Secondary School, which you can find here.

If you work in an organisation or institution and do not currently have mentoring or role model experience in schools, but would be interested in offering support during 2017, we would still like to hear from you.

Survey Structure
  • Part 1 will help us develop a directory of organisations that can offer role models and mentoring to school aged girls.
  • Part 2 will help us identify some best practice case studies as promotional material, and
  • Part 3 will help us identify candidates for workshops, to develop support and resources for mentors and role models going into schools.

You are being invited to participate in a research study titled Role Models And Mentors: Mapping And Support Survey. The surveys are being carried out by Girl Geek Scotland.

The purpose of the research is to provide examples of best practice and identify case studies which can be used to create a framework for mentoring, which will encourage school age girls to consider a career in digital technology. The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Your participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and you can withdraw at any time.

All of the data collected will be treated confidentially and held securely. The surveys are being conducted using the Survey Monkey service. Their privacy policy can be found here:

Please note that while the content will remain true, it may be necessary to edit answers for the Directory and Case Studies for promotion in order to fit with submissions from other organisations.

While we aim to publish details in the Directory from every organisation that participates in the survey, only selected case studies will be used in the promotional materials. We will confirm whether your case study has been selected prior to publication. All materials will be published under an Open Access license to remove access and reuse barriers. All users and readers will be granted rights and encouraged to reuse the work so that the full benefits of this initiative can be realised throughout Scotland.
