The application for the A9 at Firs of Kinbuck was determined by Stirling Council's Planning and Regulation Panel on 4 August. This will deliver a much needed, modern service station for the residents of Dunblane and Kinbuck, representing an investment of approximately £3.3 million to the Perthshire economy.

Benefits of this Investment:
  • Delivery of a petrol station for local residents in Dunblane and Kinbuck
  • Improved roadside service capacity to support the tourist economy in Stirling
  • Employment opportunities for local people
  • EV Charging Points
Employment:
During the construction phase of the development, the applicant has assessed that 27 full time equivalent construction jobs will be created and permanent employment opportunities once operational of 37 full time equivalent. It is evident that the commercial proposals on offer will create investment and jobs, assisting in the economic recovery from COVID-19. All of the jobs on offer will be with reputable national companies who pay the living wage.

It is also likely that a "Changing Places" facility will be made available at this location.

You may have heard that Transport Scotland objected to the application, this is not the case:

Transport Scotland: 2.6. Noting the comments set out in their response, based on the information provided, Transport Scotland would offer no objection to application 19/00243/PPP subject to the listed conditions being applied to any consent awarded by the Council.

EV Charging Points
A significant number of electric vehicle charge points will be provided at this site. This will assist in the delivery of the Scottish Government’s proposals for the A9 to be the first electric highway in Scotland with an increase in the number of charging points for drivers of electric vehicles along this road.
