The following is an agreement that you and your son/daughter will enter into with One Degree in order to participate in this programme and to understand the process involved.  Students and parents should agree to this document in the places indicated to confirm their understanding of this agreement.

* 3. 2022 programme:
a.     Primary focus – Maths and English mentoring and tutoring, revision, and mock exams
b.     Secondary focus – 21st Century Skills, guest speakers, career support, personal development mentoring

d.     Location b  – in-person sessions are run from Ada College, N15 4AG
e.    Times – 09:00 until between 13:30-14:00
f.     Dates - Selected Saturdays from January to June 2022

* 4. Our volunteers and staff:
a.      Our sessions are led by our own qualified teachers.
b.      Students are then split up into small mentoring groups and each group allocated a mentor.
c.      We aim to keep ratios as low as possible however this varies depending on the session topic and volunteers available.
d.      All our volunteer mentors and staff undergo One Degree training regarding safeguarding policies and have an Enhanced DBS Check (Criminal Record Check).
e.      Our sessions are also supported by tutors and past students.
f.       Some sessions involve guest speakers and workshops to help with aspiration and inspiration.

* 5. Ongoing communication:
a.        One Degree will communicate with students via our own Online Network.
b.        Students will receive up-to-date programme information on the Online Network each week.
c.        Students can also message privately in the in the Online Network with any direct questions or post it to the group should it concern all group members.
d.        The Online Network must not be misused - it is not a platform to be disrespectful to other group members, to use abusive language, or to argue. Please consider all group members before posting. Not adhering to these group rules will not be tolerated and it may lead to the student being removed.

* 6. Equipment needed:
a.      Students will need to bring their own stationery packs with them to all sessions - note book, pen, calculator plus any other stationery they would normally use for school.
b.      Maths sessions – students are required to bring their own scientific calculator for Maths sessions.
c.      If you need any additional support with this, speak to your school.

* 7. Attendance:
a.      Students’ are expected to attend all the programme session days.
b.      Registration is at 09:00-09:30 at https://myonedegree.org/network/ or Ada College depending on whether the session is online or in-person
c.      If you arrive in-person or online after 09:30 there is a chance you will not be given access into your mentoring groups.
d.      Unless absence is an absolute emergency, non-attendance may result in expulsion from the programme. Please understand that this programme is a fantastic opportunity for your you, is expensive to run and is offered at no cost to you. Absence disrupts your participation and that of the other students and disrespects the volunteers who give up their time to work with the students.  It also takes away a place that could have been filled by another student.
e.      We may request a virtual meeting with the student and parent/guardian to discuss the student’s ongoing participation on One Degree should we feel they are not taking attendance seriously.

* 8. Missing a session for an emergency:
a.      Step 1 – Inform your One Degree contact as soon as you know you will not be attending and the reason why.
b.      Step 2 – Your parent/guardian must email roger@myonedegree.org with reasons for the absence by the Monday following the missed session.
c.      Step 3 – Contact One Degree to let us know you wish to remain on the programme and that you will be present at the next session.
d.      Please note that multiple absenteeism will seriously affect your chances to stay on the programme. Should any of the above 3 steps not be fulfilled then we cannot guarantee that the student will be allowed to remain on the programme.

* 9. Discipline:
a.      We reserve the right to ask any student to leave the programme at any time should we feel that they are not fully participating to the required programme standards. This includes lack of discipline, poor time-keeping or absence without notification and/or a suitable parent letter, or disrespect to any other student or One Degree team-member.

* 10. Personal development:
a.      At the start and end of the programme all students will complete a short psychological survey to map their personal development over the course of the programme to gauge improvements in several areas.
b.      These assessments will be anonymous to gather an honest assessment. One Degree student ID numbers will be used by our external auditors to match student assessments to student exam results without student names attached.

a.      One Degree is a small education charity that relies on donations, sponsors and volunteers to run our programmes. Please understand that our resources are limited, however we do invest highly into our chosen students. Please help us by maintaining mutual respect for the process and we will make every effort to make your programme a success.
