The Federation of Materials Societies ( FEMS ) draws together 26 National Materials Societies, and enables 25,000 Materials professionals to share experience and knowledge of Materials activity from a Global Network.

Formed 34 years ago, FEMS, and its Member Societies (based in each EU country) are recognised as the pre eminent source for new knowledge across the Materials Sector. FEMS now seeks to develop improved access to these knowledge streams to enable businesses of all sizes, operating in this exciting field, to connect more effectively.

FEMS wishes to consult with a range of Materials Businesses to help structure the new links and knowledge transfer products that can directly address industry needs. We believe that new operating practices might be required, and therefore FEMS seeks your help in prioritising those deliverables best suited to help your business. We have created a short questionnaire and would ask that for each of the four separate sections you identify the one, potential FEMS activity that would help you most. Your business identity will be maintained as confidential but we seek to accumulate the results and then share with you the consolidated outcome of this study. Our aim would then be to work with our National Society Members to develop and deliver the style of industry needs that you believe would be effective.

FEMS (www.fems.org) offers a catalogue of services and go-to opportunities. An opportunity to broker meetings between key participants. A network that provides an opportunity for reach-out of news, marketing and recruitment needs. The EUROMAT conference distills all these opportunities into a leading event for the materials science community every odd year. Next horizons in materials science can be scanned for identifying new business opportunities and partners in such development. The visibility of a business in such interactions will also serve as good employer branding and allow top talents to come forward or be identified.

Developing our business engagement programme we believe that the following are aspects of knowledge transfer, that FEMS can develop to add value:

1.      Information Access

2.      Incremental Improvement

3.      Influence in the Market

4.      Innovation

Please identify for each section, 1 through 4, which product might assist you best by selecting the one of most interest under each question. We have also included some generic questions to better understand the industry sector your responses represent.

Thank you for your time and assistance.
