Can you tell us about workforce or leadership issues in the arts, screen and creative industries?

Creative Scotland
has commissioned Culture Radar (working with Ruthless Research) to undertake a review of Fair Work, leadership, workforce and skills development for people working in the arts, screen and creative industries.

The Scottish Government's vision is for Scotland to be a leading Fair Work Nation by 2025 with people in Scotland having a world-leading working life where fair work drives success, wellbeing and prosperity for individuals, businesses, organisations and society.

“Fair work is work that offers all individuals an effective voice, opportunity, security, fulfilment and respect. It balances the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers, and it generates benefits for individuals, organisations and society.” Fair Work Convention

The ‘Fair Work First’ approach is being developed by the Scottish Government, trade unions and business to develop support and advice for employers to support fair work practices in their businesses including employing disadvantaged groups.

So that Creative Scotland can inform its planning around Fair Work, we would like to understand:
  • How employers in the sector are currently managing and responding to fair work, leadership and skills development
  • Existing challenges to its implementation, and
  • What support is needed
This survey is the first part of this process, and it will inform the wider review which will include interviews, case studies, discussion sessions and events.

At this point we are keen to hear from anyone who has decision-making responsibility around workforce or leadership issues in the sector (including self-employed individuals), no matter what your current level of awareness or experience around these issues is.

This survey will take 15-20 minutes to complete, and it will be open until 30th Sept.

The survey is anonymous, in that we will not link your answers to your identity in any way and we will analyse what you tell us combined with the answers of many others.

To thank you for your input, at the end of the survey we will offer you the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win £50 which you can spend on any creative product or activity of your choice in the arts, screen or creative industries in Scotland.  This could be a craft item, performance tickets, a voucher for your favourite gallery or artist collective shop. As long as it is creatively produced and accessible in Scotland and doesn’t exceed £50, we will do our best to secure it for you.

This survey is being conducted in accordance with the MRS Code of Conduct, by independent researcher Ruth Stevenson.  Information about data protection as it relates to this survey, and your rights, can be found in this linked document.  If you have any questions, or ito complete the survey by phone or in another format, contact Ruth.
